Three second-half goals in the room of six minutes from Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale were enough to block out Samir Nasri's first-half operator, as Tottenham came back from a target right down to consign Manchester Cityto a discouraging defeat. Nasri opened the score with just four minutes gone as Manchester City, scraping home James Milner's corner to give the Citizens the guide. Despite appearing to be in control, the away side helped Dempsey to tap house Bale's corner with quarter-hour remaining, before Defoe and Bale won in rapid succession to offer Spurs an essential gain. Andre Villas-Boas produced two changes from the side that earned a draw against Basel as Benoit Assou-Ekotto and, more especially, Gareth Bale delivered to the very first team at the cost of Kyle Naughton and Lewis Holtby. Roberto Mancini, meanwhile, spun his part greatly, creating five changes from the team that beat Wigan 1-0 on Wednesday with Pablo Zabaleta, Matija Nastasic, Gael Clichy, James Milner and Edin Dzeko all to arrive to replace Micah Richards, Joleon Lescott, Alexander Kolarov, Javi Garcia and Sergio Aguero. After a fairly frantic start, it took just four minutes for the initial goal ahead. Excellent work from Carlos Tevez resulted in the striker putting Milner in behind the Spurs security, who, at the by range, properly scale back to the waiting Nasri. The ball was slightly behind the Frenchman but he designed well, turning the ball home expertly on the volley to give the away side the guide. The goalscorer was at the biggest market of the controversy just minutes later as Nasri went in high on Kyle Walker. Despite calls for a red, umpire Lee Mason deemed the process unworthy of even a foul. Walker then spurned what in the course of time happened to be Tottenham's only real chance of the half as, after Dempsey put him in on target, the proper back lost a chance to level the scoring as Hart choked his attempt expertly. Following that missed opportunity, City easily took the initiative and, with Tevez mostly pulling the strings, almost doubled the lead ahead of the break. Nasri and Dzeko both went close after being put through by the Argentine, the former hitting only wide and the latter hitting Lloris in the Spurs goal. After it was not long before the away side capitalized and the split, it took until the 70th minute before the second half undoubtedly started in to life as Tottenham started to pile on the stress. It was Bale who made the target as, after receiving the ball on the best side from Walker, the Welshman owned it to the back post with the surface of his left foot, finding Dempsey who usually tapped home to put Spurs degree. Tottenham's impetus continued and it absolutely was mere minutes before the house area completed the comeback with still another target, thanks to replacement Jermain Defoe. After the ball was received by the striker on the left from Holtby, he went at Kompany, reducing inside before lashing an easy energy past Hart to the far corner. Your home side's energy seemed unstoppable as it extended the lead a few minutes later. Following a pass and beautiful run from Huddlestone BaleA was through on goal and wonderfully dinked over Hart to place Spurs 3-1 up and seemingly out of sight. Follow GOAL.COM on Facebook
