Ex-Jaguars WR Smith Begins Serving Six Years In Jail.

Ex - receiver Jimmy Smith has got begun serving a six-year jail term in Mississippi for drug possession and weaponry charges, online state corrections records show.

The Mississippi Department associated with Corrections' website says your 44-year-old Smith entered a prison system in tardy March and was recently moved to somewhat of a facility in Yazoo Community. He was sentenced with a Madison County court to 2 years for possession of a firearm by the convicted felon and 3 years for possession of cocaine, records show.

WJXX-TV around Jacksonville, Fla., first noted Smith's sentence. His tentative release date is mentioned as Nov. 8, 2018.

Smith, a standout at Jackson State drafted inside second round by the Dallas Cowboys in 1992, played 13 seasons in the NFL, including 11 to your Jaguars. He played in the team's inaugural season in 1995 and became the country's all-time leading receiver before his retirement in 2005.

Smith has experienced multiple run-ins with authorities since his playing days and nights, and was sentenced to 18 months of probation for a good drug possession charge in '09 in Jacksonville.
