Manchester United in a 'great position' to seal title, says Rooney - Yahoo! Sports

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has admitted that the Red Devils have been in a position" to win the Premier League after his purpose secured a win over Reading. The gain puts Rooney's group 15 points away from Manchester City towards the top of the dining table following their close rival's shock 2-0 beat against Everton earlier in the day that morning. With seven games outstanding, the England international mentioned that they are well-positioned but insisted that they should give attention to carrying out a professional work. "We knew the three factors was the most important thing today, particularly with City losing three points," he toldAESPN. "It was a hardcore sport, but we kept on and that was the most crucial thing. "We knew that the most crucial point was our result. We had to make sure we were correct and we got the three items whatever happened. It was great that City lost but we had to make that up with the three items. "We are specialists. We know we're in a fantastic location with eight games to go, 15 points clear. But we're professional sportsmen, we've to do our jobs and go out week-in week-out. Whether we're leading, or 2nd in the league you only have to carry on and try to gain the games." Rooney was also quick to give credit to managerless Reading as, despite his early opener, the Royals continued to fight and kept the game close until the end. "We predicted that [from Reading]," he added. "They are an excellent team, but fighting to stay in the Premier League, so those fits are always difficult. Total credit for them, they gave us a good game".
