Manuka Home 510 Fulham Path, Fulham Adrian Seal takes luncheon at Manuka Kitchen 510 Fulham Road, Fulham, SW6 5NJ. Telephone 020 7736 7588 www.manukakitchen.co.uk Situation has turned into a buzz word for many people at weekends and the opportunity to just take time out of their busy schedule and sit down and enjoy good quality food and a decent cup of coffee. This has light emitting diode to a surge of restaurants opening their gates to this new strain of clients, with some offering highly imaginative selections in the struggle to get keen punters organization. One particular institution grasping the chance with both hands is Manuka, which has made quite an impact because it first opened its gates as a new cafe on the Fulham Road, a few yards from the lively Broadway, and has added another string to its bow with the start of a stylish and appetising luncheon menu. The hard working mixture of Joseph Antippa and Tyler Martin is the first to admit there is still ways to choose their formidable venture. However, I enjoyed among the most readily useful dishes I have had for a time when I visited for supper not long after Manuka opened towards the finish of this past year, and vowed to come back for brunch and a good Flat White coffee - after they'd fitted the sparkling new coffee machine they were eagerly waiting for. Well the device is now up and running and I will report that Manuka does serve a Flat White, so great infact that I liked two with my brunch. The test was also passed by it with flying colors for my Kiwi companion Fiona, who's rather passionate about her Flat White. Obviously combined manager Tyler, who hails from New Zealand's North Island, has taught the barista well as she made excellent glasses on our visit, helped by the delicious Union hand roasted coffee they use. For the uninitiated the Flat White developed in Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s and must always include latte art, at the least if organized with a appropriately educated barista. It is similar to the cafe au lait and the latte although smaller in quantity and more velvety in reliability having a greater proportion of coffee to milk. It will also be served hot rather than pipping warm, which can be still the fall of numerous Flat White's served in this country. We'd upset quite an appetite after one hour long morning hours walk and our taste buds were tantalised by the tasty luncheon menu a' that is clearly popular with the locals since many of the reclaimed retro tables in the calm and compact restaurant were already full. I was convinced by the French toast with bacon, banana and honey (clearly the Manuka range) in the end could not resist the appeal of a Complete Break fast (A9.95) while Fiona went for the Eggs Benedict with Straw Chips (A8.50). Savouring our first Flat White and the heat of the sun beaming through the front window we'd a taster of feta and avocado on sourdough that was an ideal fit, and delightful solution to get us ready for the key function. Sourcing only the best fresh produce is quite much element of Joseph and Tyler's philosophy and that came through strongly with my morning meal. Every element was tasty and well cooked, from the meaty and herby chicken and leek chicken, thick and flavoursome used bacon, flavoursome black pudding to the completely runny fresh free range eggs. Then add mushrooms and tomato and it had been a success on a plate a' my type of quality fry up. Fiona declared himself in 'Eggs Benedict heaven' because the poached eggs, thick tasty sausage and sensible hollandaise sauce actually hit the spot. She loved that the Benedict was served with bacon rather than the more common ham and from the meagre style I was permitted, the hollandaise had the perfect level of orange to cut through its natural abundance. There is by now a real news from people experiencing the situation cost in the cosy atmosphere of the cafe, so we decided to remain a little longer before going back out in the chill with a Flat White a' which again didn't disappoint. With Joseph's front of home charm and attentiveness to his clients and the culinary abilities of Tyler and his small group in the active open kitchen, Manuka has a distinctive area charm about it and looks as though it is earning the residents over with its excellent brunch cost. Luncheon is served Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10am-3pm.
